Tarot is a symbolic system of 78 cards: 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana trace archetypal turning points and initiatory themes; the Minor Arcana bring those forces into daily life through Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles.
Wands correspond to Fire and will, Cups to Water and feeling, Swords to Air and thought, and Pentacles to Earth and material form. Each card gains depth through its number, suit, figures, gestures, colors, and relationship to surrounding cards.
